Education Experience

Undergraduate (2018- 2022)
Experimental Art, Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, China
The Central Academy of Fine Arts or CAFA is an art academy under the direct charge of the Ministry of Education of China. It has been consistently ranked the best in China among universities specialized in Arts in the recognized Best Chinese Universities Ranking. (Wikipedia)
Experimental art breaks through the constraints of materials and techniques. Its freedom is mainly reflected in the diversity of work forms. There are various forms of works, such as installations, videos, technological art, photography, and action performances. It is a very unique, open, inclusive and interesting major.
During my undergraduate studies, I systematically gained an understanding of art history and developed a deeper insight into contemporary art. I learned to use new practical media for artistic creation and explored the possibilities of art. This laid a very good foundation for my postgraduate studies.
The most beneficial thing about my undergraduate years is that it broadened my horizons. I came to study in Beijing, the capital of China, where people from all over the country gather. I witnessed experienced diversity. I have become more open-minded.
Our school has held many international lectures on art, which enabled me to see the outside world. Those experiences made me realize that there are so many things in China and the world that I don't know. But instead of being discouraged, I felt that I had something to do with my life, which was to learn and experience.

Postgraduate (2023- 2024)
Illustration, Cambridge School of Art, Anglia Ruskin University, United kingdom
In the study of illustration, I have improved my visual communication skills. For instance, the study of colours, the improvement of painting skills, the dedication to design, and the arrangement of narrative. And the emphasis on the process, as well as the care for originality. I recorded my process by taking photos and writing, and did self-reflection at each stage. This was to ensure that I could be constantly improving and becoming more professional.
This was a very fulfilling year of study. What I have learned is not only academic courses, but more importantly, my perspective on making mistakes has changed. I used to be very afraid of making mistakes. A mistake is a failure.
However, now if I make a mistake, I will be very happy because it represents that I have made an attempt. Mistakes represent my actions. As long as I take action once, there will be a second time, a third time, a 100th time, a 1000th time. As long as I am taking action, I am growing.
From the lovely little city where I was born, to Beijing, and then to the UK, this journey has been incredibly wonderful to me. In the UK, I experienced lots kinds of cultures. These new cultures are like nourishment that I have never tasted but my body and soul are lacking. So this was also a year to fill the void in my soul.
